Desire the stupid loop

Let me begin by stating, desire is not inherently bad. Desire is a fuel for change. Desire urges mankind forward toward its future expression. Desire is a powerful force for movement, it is energy in motion.

Our experience of desire is often in conflict. Many of the desires we have we feel shame about, particularly those which are associated with sex or altered states. The one thing we must understand is before we describe/label the desire mentally it exists as a vibration or pressure. This pressure is a evolutionary force guiding us too have sex, feed, create an easier life, and express ourselves creatively. The only problem with desire is how we deal with it; if we act without awareness then we will simply obey the pressure and fulfill the desire. Desire is a force for creating, and consider what happens when we just let the pressure be without indulging it. Life is about creation, destruction and stasis. When we choose to do nothing with desire we are also evolving. Evolution does not necessarily only move in a proactive/creation direction. If you observe the desire for money you can see more clearly that acting on the this desire may create more but what is sacrificed along the way in terms of the environment is destructive. We must also understand desires cannot be satisfied, they are a resonance of the nervous system, a pattern expressed for us the individuals to learn about and choose if we want to perpetuate that particular expression of the nervous system. Consider drugs and alcohol, judgements aside, the desire for altered states are as natural as the desire for sex. We spend every moment of our lives in our bodies, so its natural that we would crave a shift in our internal environments. How we achieve the altered state is where the challenge lies. The reward system in the brain makes it very worth while for us to pursue alter states; we achieve these states in a number of ways, drugs, breath work, Yoga, meditation, etc. Too ignore the desire for altered states can lead to painful stagnation. An altered state can lead to a shift n perception leading too epiphany, leading too insight, leading to guidance, leading to a new openness in life and new avenues too pursue. The difficulty comes when we become dependent on an external source which creates a high that necessarily leads too a low. Alcohol definitely can lead to certain insights which can prove to be beneficial; however we often drink too loose consciousness and not gain awareness; and as we continue to indulge the desire for drink the body's biological systems suffer leading too chronically low energy and in turn more dependence on the booze for an altered state. The use of alcohol often becomes an escape from oneself, less of an altered state and more of an obliterated state! The body is life, and its through the body we have the opportunity to experience all that life has to offer including the pressure to fulfill desire. Understanding that desires are a natural part of life, understanding that desires often lessen in potency the more we are aware of them clues us into something very elementary, we are given free will or choice. Humanity is reactive and not creative by nature. We respond too the environment, we respond to previous knowledge, we respond to obstacles, we respond to others, we respond to desires; it must be remembered that we have free will and the results of any choice we make is a determining factor in the directions our life can take. To understand the nature of desire is the response to the desire to become aware.
