Movement for the People: Introduction

The human experience has the potential to be as expansive and graceful as we make it. This program is designed to give the participant the opportunity to explore and cultivate sensitivity for the purpose of reclaiming what feels to be non-integrated aspects of the whole. We are always whole, this must be remembered, what creates the separation are states of the mind which we identify with as being who we are. The beliefs and constructs, whether cultural or personal, are a fundamental part of what it is to be alive on this planet today. Much of what we believe to be "true" about humanity and our creation is actually an illusion; for example consider currency, money is actually a creation of man and it feels as if it is a huge part of what it is to be alive, in truth money is actually just an idea, an idea which reinforces scarcity on a planet with plenty, so money is counter to truth, counter to life and not necessary for man to thrive. Truth is what every aspect of creation has in common. We are in essence a vibration and we exist for the purpose of creating, these are absolute truths which can be verified by science and simple reflection on the practices of man. What we create completely depends on our perceptions. Our perceptions depend on what we sense and feel, and what we sense and feel depends on our sensitivity, and our sensitivity depends on our awareness, and our awareness depends on our practice/Yoga/Meditation. Meditation is immersion and integration, the union of all duality/separation into the whole; it is no mind. The mind defines and constructs a reality the personality can identify with. However, if the mind and personality are doing all the creating in your life then you are living a imaginary existence on some level. Defining what rises in the mind is always from a place of the past or the future. All language is learned, and the mind essentially operates in a positive (future), negative (past), or neutral (observing) way. So when you penetrate beneath meaning making habit you will find that all mind stuff is actually just a vibration, in which the mind interprets and ads meaning too. In order to get beneath the identification we have to first understand that Time is also a creation, there is no past, no future, and no present. Present is a state of being and not a specific increment of time. Presence is lucid, clear, and open.

Many of the practices in any Yoga system are designed to adjust the body/psyche for the purpose of allowing the practitioner to relax in meditation. The techniques clear and create strength within the nervous system. True strength actually has little to do with how large the muscle is. When I was studying exercise physiology in grad school the mantra was that the strength increases most people experience at the beginning of a program, for the first six weeks, are actually due to new and awakened connections in the nervous system. The time period of six weeks or forty days is actually the necessary amount of time it takes to begin a new pattern or behavior. The movement for the people program, or yoga, or meditation will benefit you deeply if you can stick to the new behavior for at least 40days. The program is designed around three six week periods: the first six weeks deals with how we manage our own body weight, the second six weeks translates the wisdom from the first six weeks to the use of equipment, finally the third six weeks is a unique experience one based on surrender and primal movement patters.

The overall purpose of the program is to unite all aspects of who we are. How are we supposed to thrive when we are living in fear or scarcity? How are we supposed to know what our purpose is when we have no awareness of how vast we are? How are we supposed to have the energy necessary to face life's challenges when our energy is being diverted outside of ourselves? How are we supposed to love others when we have not given ourselves the most basic attention needed to end our own suffering?
